Bob Duff: Rasmussen returned to junior Among Sunday's cuts, the Detroit Red Wings assigned 2017 top draft pick Michael Rasmussen to WHL Tri-City.

Maybe I'll be surprised, but I have a hard time imagining anybody will actually put in a claim on Coreau, especially since they'd be required to keep him on their roster for at least 30 days.

Not saying he couldn't hack it as a backup somewhere and he's been a good AHL goalie, but he's also 25, has very little NHL experience (and awful numbers to show for it), and guys with his resume / pedigree are a dime a dozen. Why piss off another GM and tie your own hands for a month for a guy who probably isn't any better than the backup you already have?

Who cares. Dude doesn't have NHL pedigree. At least someone claiming him would free up an SPC slot.

I agree that Coreau probably doesn't have much of an NHL future (and if he does, it's purely as a journeyman backup) so it's not like I'd care that much if he gets picked off.

Then again, if the reports are legit that as many as four teams would consider putting in a claim, I'd like to think our hopeless GM could at least squeeze a seventh rounder out of somebody for him. (Of course, even that price may be too high.)

Am I the only one that believes in Martin Frk?

Probably.

In all seriousness, I'd love to see him do well and I'm glad he got the nod over a veteran plug like Booth or Parenteau. I doubt he has an especially long or productive NHL career ahead of him, though.

As long as he's used properly and expectations are realistic I think he can do some good. If he can jumpstart the powerplay while playing more sheltered minutes at even strength, that would probably be a win for Detroit. But I don't know that he's ever going to be a legit, well-rounded top-sixer at the NHL level.

I love Frk. He’s a great bottom six player who has skill, some speed, and a good shot. He’s good on both sides of the ice and won’t cost much throughout his entire career. Like a less skilled Draper without the Selke.

Sorry, but Kris Draper today at 46 is twice as fast as Frk has ever been.

They're completely different players and I don't know wtf you're looking at.

Frk is slow. Not terribly slow, but he's nothing like Kris Draper, who was easily one of the best 4th line centers in NHL history. He also plays nothing like Draper. Frk can't touch Draper's hockey IQ or defense, just like he wouldn't be able to touch Frk's offensive skills.

There is really nothing to be compared there.
